This book is a research outcome of the author, conceived and planned over many years, and took six months to complete. The traditional Chinese edition was first launched in Taipei under the title Socrates and Mencius: A Virtual Dialogue on Constructing a Rule of Law Utopia. The traditional Chinese edition received positive reviews and went into a second printing two months after publication. It was also listed on the Asia Weekly Hong Kong Bestseller List. Currently, Commercial Press has obtained the author's authorization to publish the simplified Chinese edition for readers.
In addition to the rule of law issues, legal history, and Eastern and Western legal thought related to this book, Mr. Zhou regularly focuses on legal subjects such as property economics and international finance. In recent years, he has taught courses on the economic analysis of law at the Legal Research Institute of Fudan University. He is also scheduled to serve as a part-time professor at the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, starting in the spring of 2001, teaching courses on international financial transactions and regulations.
