Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1981-12-01
Features: The revision of this edition is guided by the principles, viewpoints, and methods of Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought. Based on the nature and tasks of the book, modern terms related to natural sciences, social sciences, and applied technologies from the old Ciyuan were removed. The selection of terms generally ends with the Opium War (1840 AD), and some commonly used terms were added, while a few non-word terms or overly obscure terms were deleted. Single characters are annotated with Pinyin and letters, and the ancient pronunciation Guangyun is added with its phonetic notation, indicating the phonetic series. For characters not included in Guangyun, the phonetic notation from Jiyun or other rhyme books and character books is used. The definitions strive for simplicity and clarity, paying attention to the origin of words and their evolution in usage. The text on the book cover and title pages has been reviewed, and the author, title, and volume are clearly marked.
