This series of books is jointly organized by the "Teaching Professional Support Working Group" of the Ministry of Education's Basic Education Curriculum Reform and the subject-specific curriculum standards groups. It is guided by the Basic Education Department of the Ministry of Education and the Center for the Development of Basic Education Curriculum and Textbooks. The editorial board members include leaders of experimental areas, peer reviewers, and key members of the curriculum standards development teams. Vice Minister Wang Zhan of the Ministry of Education wrote the preface for this book. The series includes 16 volumes: Primary School Chinese, Primary School Mathematics, Primary School Science, Junior High School Chinese, Junior High School Mathematics, Junior High School Science, Primary and Secondary School Arts, Primary and Secondary School Fine Arts, Primary and Secondary School Music, Primary and Secondary School Physical Education and Health, Junior High School Physics, Junior High School Biology, Junior High School Chemistry, Junior High School Geography, Junior High School History, and Junior High School History and Society.
Each volume consists of two main parts: The first part includes reflections and reviews by the "Teaching Professional Support Working Group" of the Ministry of Education's Basic Education Curriculum Reform on classroom teaching practices since the implementation of the new curriculum, as well as reviews and reflections by the subject-specific curriculum standards development teams on the new curriculum experiments. The second part presents several case studies that emerged during the experimental phase of the new curriculum, organized into corresponding chapters based on subject characteristics. These cases reflect the various changes brought about by the new curriculum implementation and showcase teachers' teaching practices, as well as the challenges and dilemmas they encountered during the reform. Each case is rooted in teaching practice, but its focus extends beyond the classroom, broadly covering aspects such as educational philosophy, teacher-student relationships, teaching and learning methods, teacher professional development, textbook usage, and curriculum resource development.
The case studies in this book were collected from experimental areas by the "Teaching Professional Support Working Group" of the Ministry of Education's Basic Education Curriculum Reform and the subject-specific curriculum standards groups, reviewed, and compiled into a book. It serves as a guiding and inspiring resource for frontline teachers' new curriculum training, daily teaching, and continuous education, as well as an important reference for educational and teaching researchers.
