Features: This book was recommended by the National Education Commission's Engineering Mechanics Textbook Committee as a theoretical mechanics textbook for engineering mechanics majors. While the second edition maintains the high starting point, emphasis on analytical methods, focus on motion process analysis, and comprehensive training in vector mechanics and analytical mechanics of the original textbook, it has made the content more refined. Adjustments have also been made to examples, thought questions, and exercises to enhance inspiration and cultivate independent thinking skills. The book includes five parts: Statics, Kinematics, Vector Dynamics, Fundamentals of Analytical Mechanics, and Dynamics Topics. The sequel to this book, "Advanced Dynamics," is a continuation, supplement, and enhancement of theoretical mechanics, published separately. General engineering courses with multiple hours on theoretical mechanics can use this textbook alone. Undergraduate students in engineering mechanics majors can explore and master more in-depth theoretical mechanics knowledge in the follow-up advanced dynamics course. For courses with medium or fewer hours on theoretical mechanics, only the first three parts of this textbook can be selected for teaching.
