Features: This third edition was revised by Shen Daiyun, Yang Qiyu, Chen Danxin, and others, based on the "Basic Requirements for Linear Algebra Course Teaching" approved by the National Education Commission and reviewed by the Teaching Guidance Committee for Engineering Mathematics in Higher Education in 1987. The book is not overly lengthy, with appropriately selected content, clear concepts, and well-organized structure. The parts exceeding the basic requirements are printed in smaller font, providing flexibility in time management. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors are one of the important concepts in linear algebra. During the revision, a separate chapter ("Similarity of Matrices and Diagonal Matrices") was added to focus on discussing their preliminary properties. The content of the book is divided into seven chapters: Determinants and Their Properties, Vector Spaces, Linear Transformations and Matrices, Rank of Matrices and Linear Equations, Similarity of Matrices and Diagonal Matrices, Inner Product and Orthogonal Transformations, and Quadratic Forms. At the end of the book, there are answers to exercises for convenience in teaching. This book can be used as a textbook for various majors in higher vocational colleges and is also suitable for self-study by engineering technicians. During the revision of this book, Professor Sun Zengguang provided kind guidance.
