The book is divided into four parts: Part 1 introduces the materials and structural strength fundamentals of mechanical components, including common materials and structural processability of mechanical components, as well as the theoretical foundations of computer-aided analysis of mechanical component performance; Part 2 introduces the design fundamentals of various common transmission mechanisms (including screw mechanisms, planar link mechanisms, cam mechanisms, gear drives, gear trains, reducers, belt drives, chain drives, intermittent motion mechanisms, and composite mechanisms), as well as the methods for drawing kinematic diagrams of mechanisms and calculating the degrees of freedom of plane mechanisms; Part 3 introduces the design fundamentals of various general mechanical components (including fastening components, couplings, clutches, brakes, sliding bearings, rolling bearings, guides, shafts, and springs); Part 4 introduces the design fundamentals of mechanical transmission systems, including mechanical balancing and speed regulation, and the preliminary selection of transmission system schemes for mechanical systems. Each chapter includes a certain number of review questions and exercises. This book can be used as a textbook for non-mechanical majors in higher education institutions, and can also be referenced by teachers, students, and engineering technicians in related fields.
