Features: This book is divided into two parts. The first part covers traditional logic, while the second part covers modern logic. Traditional logic refers to the formal logic established by Aristotle and continued until the emergence of modern logic in the 19th century. Modern logic refers to the modern formal logic that developed after the mid-19th century. Traditional logic and modern logic are interconnected, not only in that the latter is an extension of the former but also in the relevance of their subjects and content. However, traditional logic and modern logic also differ. Their key distinction lies in the fact that traditional logic primarily uses natural language, with some elements of axiomatic methods, while modern logic employs symbolic language and formalized axiomatic methods along with certain mathematical approaches. The use of natural language in traditional logic results in some limitations, but it has a certain affinity with everyday experiential thinking. In contrast, the use of symbolic language and mathematical methods in modern logic makes it more precise, with a broader and deeper scope of study, and it finds applications in modern technology, particularly in computer science. It can be said that traditional logic and modern logic, arising from different historical and cultural contexts, share both distinctions and connections, as well as complementary aspects. The content of this book aligns with the actual development process and principles of logic science, helping students to comprehensively and deeply grasp the fundamental knowledge of logic and fostering their logical thinking abilities.
