How should ovarian cysts be treated?

Patient's question:

The ovarian cyst is not large, but there is endometrial thickening with polyps. The menstruation is incomplete and dripping. Can both be treated simultaneously? A month ago, I just had a D&C due to the risk of interfering with the effect of the D&C. After the procedure, medication was applied, and the menstrual flow decreased slightly, but it still hasn't stopped after a week.

Doctor's answer:

Pelvic effusion does not necessarily indicate pelvic inflammatory disease. Some normal women may have a small amount of pelvic effusion during the menstrual period or ovulation, which is physiological. Primary dysmenorrhea is related to the increased level of prostaglandins in the endometrium during menstruation. If there is pelvic inflammatory disease, abdominal pain may recur during the non-menstrual period. In fact, pelvic inflammatory disease is not as frightening as it may seem. Patients should believe that they can overcome the illness. As long as symptoms are detected in time and appropriate treatment is provided, the chances of stabilizing the condition and recovering are very high.
