Features: This textbook is divided into nine levels: Levels 1, 2, and 3 are for beginners; Levels 4, 5, and 6 are for intermediate learners; Levels 7, 8, and 9 are for advanced learners. After Level 9, our institution offers a Performance Diploma Level, which is higher than all other examination institutions in China. Candidates who study along this textbook should generally achieve a performance level suitable for professional development. This set of textbooks has been carefully selected after extensively consulting the opinions of renowned experts and master teachers at home and abroad. It incorporates excellent Ruan pieces by different authors with diverse styles and widespread popularity. Each level of the textbook consists of exercises and pieces. The exercises selected are designed to match the difficulty level of the pieces, encouraging students to learn them step by step in a progressive manner. There are four key features to note about this textbook:
1. The scores provided in this book are specifically for the Zhongruan. Due to the consistent tuning principles of various Ruan instruments, it can also serve as a solo or training textbook for other types of Ruan. However, some pieces may not be suitable for training or performance on the Daruan or Beiruan due to differences in fingerings, string quality, and design.
2. Most Ruans examinees are primary and secondary school students. The Zhongruan is relatively large in size, which may be inconvenient for lower-grade primary school students to learn. Therefore, these students can use the Gaonu or Xiao Ruan to play this set of textbooks.
3. We have provided performance tips after each exercise and piece to offer necessary assistance to self-taught candidates preparing for examinations, as well as guiding teaching references for their instructors.
4. Historically, there have been many different tuning methods for the Ruan, classified by the interval relationships between the four strings. These include "5-4-5," "5-5-5," and "4-5-4," among others.
