Features: Children always like to compare themselves with others, and the little rabbit in "Guess How Much I Love You" is a typical example. The little rabbit earnestly tells the big rabbit, "I love you so much," and the big rabbit responds to the little rabbit, "I love you even more!" This not only confirms that the big rabbit loves himself very much but also hopes that his love can surpass that of the little rabbit. He tries every possible way to describe his love using various body movements and visible scenery until he gets tired and falls asleep in the big rabbit's arms. This picture book features a little rabbit who is like a child and a big rabbit who is like a father. The little rabbit, like all children, loves to compare. The two of them compete to see whose love is greater. The big rabbit wins the competition with his wisdom and receives slightly less love from the little rabbit, but the little rabbit wins double the love of the big rabbit with his innocence and imagination. Both rabbits win. The entire work is filled with an atmosphere of love and joyful childhood, and the of the little rabbit, the story structure of the two rabbits competing, and the imaginative and novel details all greatly attract children. Author Sam McBratney is from Ireland, and illustrator Anita Jeram is from the UK. This "Guess How Much I Love You" is their classic work, with over 15 million copies sold worldwide.
The little rabbit is about to go to bed; it tightly holds the long ear of the big rabbit and asks the big rabbit to listen carefully.
"Guess how much I love you?" the little rabbit asks.
"Oh! I probably can't guess," the big rabbit says with a smile.
"I love you this much," the little rabbit says, stretching his arms as far as they can go.
The big rabbit has longer arms and stretches them out to compare, saying, "But I love you this much."
The little rabbit wiggles his right ear and thinks, Hmm, that's really a lot.
"I love you as high as I can reach, as high as it can get," the little rabbit says, stretching his arms as high as possible.
"I love you as high as I can reach, as high as it can get," the big rabbit says too.
That's really high, the little rabbit thinks: I hope my arms can be as long as the big rabbit's.
The little rabbit has another idea. It stands on its head with its feet against the tree trunk and says, "I love you all the way to my toes."
The big rabbit grabs the little rabbit's hand and throws it up, higher than its head, saying, "I love you all the way to your toes."
The little rabbit laughs and says, "I love you as high as I can jump, as high as it can get." It jumps back and forth.
The big rabbit smiles and says, "But I love you as high as I can jump, as high as it can get."
He jumps up so high that his ears touch the branches.
Wow, that's really high—thought the little rabbit—I wish I could jump as high as it.
The little rabbit shouts, "I love you all the way past the little path, to the other side of the faraway river."
The big rabbit says, "I love you all the way past the little river, over the other side of the mountain."
The little rabbit thinks, That's really far. It rubs its red eyes and starts to feel sleepy, unable to think of anything else. It looks up at the vast darkness behind the bushes and feels that nothing is farther than the sky.
The big rabbit gently picks up the little rabbit, which is yawning repeatedly. The little rabbit closes its eyes, murmuring, "I love you, all the way to the moon," as it falls asleep.
"Oh! That's so far," the big rabbit says. "It's really very, very far."
The big rabbit gently places the little rabbit on the bed made of leaves, lowers his head, kisses it, and wishes it good night.
Then, the big rabbit lies down next to the little rabbit, smiling softly and saying, "I love you, all the way to the moon, and then..."
Guess how much I love you
