It also highlights practical application cases of oxidation ditch technology in China, contributing to its promotion and wider adoption in the country. The book is highly practical and operational, serving as a reference for engineering technicians, researchers, and managers in the fields of environmental engineering and municipal water supply and drainage engineering. It is also suitable for faculty and students in relevant disciplines at universities.
[Preface]
The preface systematically introduces the basic concepts and theories of oxidation ditch processes, design methods for typical oxidation ditch processes, and their applications in urban domestic wastewater treatment, along with typical industrial wastewater engineering cases. The book strives to combine theory with practical application, reflecting successful domestic experience in oxidation ditch processes in recent years. The book is divided into nine chapters. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the characteristics of oxidation ditch technology, its types, and basic components. Chapter 2 discusses the microbial role in oxidation ditches and the factors influencing treatment efficiency. Chapters 3–5 are the core of the book, elaborating on the evolution of oxidation ditch processes, systematically introducing system design, common oxidation ditch designs in engineering, and issues in oxidation ditch design and operation. Chapters 6–9 present engineering cases from seven industries, including urban domestic wastewater and industrial wastewater from tanning, papermaking, intermediate treatment, pesticide production, beer brewing, chemical fiber manufacturing, and food processing (a total of 18 cases). These cases are typical and have achieved successful operation in recent years. The cases provide detailed descriptions of project overviews, process flows, technical features, design parameters, main structures and equipment, operational conditions, and techno-economic analysis.
This book serves as a highly practical reference for engineering design in urban wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment. It is suitable for engineering technicians, managers, and faculty and students in the field of environmental science and engineering.
