Features: This book consists of ten chapters plus an "Appendix." Because some "concepts" might cause confusion or ambiguity for readers if not clearly understood, I carefully considered and decided to introduce the "Basic Concepts" in the first chapter. The second chapter is "Related Planning." Without an introduction to this section, it is easy to mistakenly think that completing "Urban Planning" is sufficient. In reality, this is a very important chapter. According to Article 7 of the "Planning Law," the "Master Plan for Urban Construction" must be coordinated with the "National Land Planning," "Regional Planning," "River Basin Planning," and "Land Use Planning." In other words, urban planning cannot be self-sufficient; it must have a basis. One of these bases is the "Related Planning." The third chapter covers "Urban Planning Principles" and the "Approval Procedures for Planning Results," including the responsibilities governments should undertake regarding urban planning, and what constitutes qualified planning content and outcomes. Starting from the fourth chapter, "Residential Area Planning," "Industrial Area Planning," up to the tenth chapter, "Urban Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection Planning," are all essential components of urban planning and are indispensable. Their data, tables, parameters, etc., are very practical. Later, in the "Appendix," I compiled "Explanations of Professional Terms," "Unit Conversions," and "Master Plan Drawing Standards," which can help readers find references when reading this book and working on practical issues. Later, I also included relevant laws such as the "Urban Planning Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Land Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Cultural Relics Law of the People's Republic of China." The purpose is to let readers know that the state has many "great laws" that regulate our urban planning preparation, adjustment, and implementation, and this is a serious matter that every citizen of the People's Republic of China, especially leaders, must strictly abide by. Each chapter of this book is structured into several parts. For example, in the section "Residential Area Planning," it begins with the selection and classification of residential land, followed by the types and scales of residential areas. Then, it covers planning principles, requirements, technical parameters, indicators, etc. Next, it includes specialized planning content such as the layout forms of residential areas, supporting public facilities, internal roads, green spaces, etc. Later, it introduces the mandatory and important provisions of national regulations that must be strictly enforced during residential area planning. It also includes successful domestic and international case studies of residential area planning, which not only provide references for leaders but also inspire or assist designers in their practical work.
