Features: The abacus and mental arithmetic were created and invented by our ancestors, representing an excellent cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. "Mental abacus arithmetic," also known as "mental brain rapid calculation," is a fast calculation method that utilizes numerical and computational principles, imagining the movement of abacus beads in the mind to directly obtain the answer. Learning mental abacus arithmetic not only enables one to master a special high-speed calculation technique but also helps develop brain potential, enhance children's attention, observation, comprehension, imagination, memory, and thinking abilities. It is the golden key to unlocking early childhood intelligence. In 1982, Teacher Chen Zijing used the "Combination of Abacus and Rapid Calculation" to train a group of rapid calculation young champions, including Jia Yingfang. After the 1985 film "China's Genius" was released in Taiyuan, abacus mental arithmetic education in China gradually spread from Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, and Jilin to the entire country. In 1990, Teacher Chen Zijing revised the primary school textbook "Rapid Calculation Three Calculations" into "Early Childhood Four Calculations, Learning with Joy," bringing a revolution in the history of abacus development. He enhanced the intelligence-developing function of the abacus beyond its traditional computational role. In recent years, mental abacus arithmetic education has not only rapidly developed across various provinces and cities in China but has also been introduced in kindergartens and primary schools in countries such as Japan, Malaysia, and India. On October 28, 2002, the World Abacus Mental Arithmetic Federation was established in Beijing, promoting the development of China's abacus mental arithmetic industry.
"Suanshutong's Children's Mental Abacus Arithmetic" compiles the decades of teaching experience of rapid calculation expert Professor Chen Zijing, known as the "Chen Method": "One Stroke Clear, One Glance Clear, One Voice Clear, One Abacus Clear." Its teaching method is: "Learning through children's songs, singing, jumping, and dancing—learning with joy, practicing while playing, integrating education into entertainment. It is both learning and a game." This method enhances children's interest in learning and ensures balanced and healthy development in cognition, thinking, and personality. To "popularize early childhood mental abacus arithmetic and cultivate little math geniuses," the Beijing Suanshutong Mental Abacus Technology Research Center was established in February 2005. It is a unique research institution for children's mental abacus arithmetic in China, organized by experts in early childhood education and mental abacus arithmetic. It possesses independent intellectual property rights and a complete educational system. The knowledge structure of "Suanshutong's Children's Mental Abacus Arithmetic" is rational and scientific, better aligning with the age, psychological, and cognitive characteristics of young children. It is easy to teach and learn, effectively stimulating children's initiative and enthusiasm, promoting cognitive development, and enabling children to grow balanced, healthy, and happily in all aspects.
