Features: With the improvement of people's living standards and social progress, the demand for health has greatly increased. People have come to realize that they not only seek help when sick but also need guidance and support when healthy. Nursing work can well meet this demand. Nursing has undergone a shift from a disease-centered approach to a patient-centered approach, and then to a health-centered nursing perspective. It is no longer just simple disease care but care for the whole person. Nursing is moving from hospitals to homes and communities. To meet the needs of the new era, one must possess rich theoretical knowledge and clinical experience while paying attention to the application of new knowledge and technologies. Fundamentals of Nursing was written and completed by all the teachers of the Nursing College of Peking Union Medical College in 1997. The book is divided into two parts: basic nursing theory and nursing technical skills. It consists of 20 chapters, with chapters 1-5 covering the introduction to nursing, chapters 6-20 covering nursing techniques, and the appendix listing common nursing diagnoses. The book is woven with the concept of holistic nursing. The technical skills section uses the nursing process as a working method, organizing the chapters around the main lines of evaluation, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and detailing the principles of each operation in the technical procedures. This book is suitable for undergraduate and associate degree nursing students and can also serve as a reference for continuing education for practicing nurses.
