Features: The name of the great Russian poet Pushkin is already familiar to a wide audience in China. Since the introduction and translation of Pushkin by predecessors such as Lu Xun, Guo Moruo, Mao Dun, and Zheng Zhenduo, and through the continuous efforts of later generations, Pushkin's works have appeared to readers in numerous standalone volumes and various collections and complete editions. June 6, 1999, marked the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth. Russia celebrated this day as a national holiday. Cities in China such as Beijing and Shanghai also held various forms of commemorative events. On this day, the People's Literature Publishing House also released the centennial commemorative collection "Pushkin and Me." The love and respect the Chinese people have for Pushkin are evident. Through his poems, essays, verse dramas, and fairy tales, Pushkin ushered in a new era in Russian literature, enabling the Russian literary tradition, which had lagged behind Western Europe, to rapidly catch up. Therefore, he is justifiably regarded as the founder of modern Russian literature, the creator of the Russian literary language, and the "sun of Russian poetry." In his lifetime, Pushkin wrote over 800 lyric poems. This book selects 200 of his finest works from different stages of his creative career, many of which are timeless classics in Russian literature. Additionally, we have carefully chosen more than ten illustrations—both large and small—from the vast number of artworks created by generations of painters to illustrate Pushkin's poems over the past two centuries. These include masterpieces by renowned Russian painters such as Repin. We believe that classic works paired with exquisite illustrations will undoubtedly bring readers endless artistic enjoyment.
