Features: Lu Xun's novels are the brilliant masterpieces of the literary giants of 20th-century China. "Most of Lu Xun's novels are powerful satires against the feudal society. It is precisely this powerful destruction that has led to today's splendid construction." (as quoted by Feng Zikai) This is the very reason why Lu Xun's novels have remained bestsellers for decades, enduring the passage of time and the vicissitudes of life, yet never failing to captivate readers. On the other hand, Feng Zikai's cartoons are the artistic masterpieces of a 20th-century art master. Feng Zikai's cartoons blend Eastern and Western painting techniques, with refined lines, vivid expression, and rich. They possess both the sparse and distant charm of Chinese painting styles and the lively and unrestrained spirit of Western painting techniques, forming a unique "Zikai cartoon" style full of humor and romanticism, with exceptional expressive power. He is one of the painters who pioneered a new era in the history of Chinese cartoon art. Feng Zikai's Cartoons of Lu Xun's Novels presents the works of these two masters side by side, offering readers new insights. As Mr. Feng Zikai said, "Lu Xun's satirical novels still hold great value today. I have translated them into illustrations to make them more accessible to the general public. It’s like equipping Lu Xun’s speech with a microphone, amplifying his voice."
The collection includes Lu Xun’s novels such as The True Story of Ah-Q, Blessing, Kong Yiji, My Old Home, Tomorrow, Medicine, Turbulent Waves, The Moonlight over the Opera House, and The White Light, along with all 194 illustrations created by Feng Zikai for these nine novels. These 194 illustrations accurately and vividly depict the scenes from Lu Xun’s novels, helping readers better understand and appreciate his works. Through unique artistic expression, they form an unparalleled series of artistic masterpieces. The combination of the masterpieces of a literary giant and the masterpieces of an art giant results in an extraordinary treasure of both intellectual refinement and artistic appreciation.
