Patient's question:
My good friend has always wanted to have a baby and recently discovered she is pregnant, but after a thorough check-up, it was found to be an ectopic pregnancy. How is ectopic pregnancy surgery performed?Doctor's answer:
An abnormal pregnancy occurs when the egg fertilized is implanted into the uterine cavity and grows and develops outside the uterine cavity. It is also known as "ectopic pregnancy." Tubal pregnancy is the most common type. Inflammation within or around the fallopian tubes often obstructs the lumen, hindering the normal movement of the fertilized egg, causing it to remain, implant, and grow in the fallopian tube, leading to miscarriage or a ruptured tubal pregnancy. Miscarriage or rupture usually shows no obvious symptoms but may include amenorrhea, abdominal pain, and a very small amount of vaginal bleeding. Rupture symptoms include acute severe abdominal pain, repeated recurrence, vaginal bleeding, and even shock. Examination often reveals signs of intra-abdominal bleeding and a mass near the uterus.
