Patient's question:
What are the causes of ovarian cysts? My friend has been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, what caused it? It was discovered a few days ago, what are the causes of ovarian cysts?Doctor's answer:
Ovarian cysts can be physiological (meaning they are normal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle that can naturally disappear) or pathological (formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery for definitive diagnosis and additional treatment. For women of childbearing age, if an ovarian cyst is detected, the next course of action depends on the nature of the cyst. Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. For example, if MRI indicates that the cyst is anechoic (without echoes) and non-segmented, it may be advisable to wait and see for 3 months, followed by a repeat MRI examination after 3 months.
