Post cervical erosion surgery bleeding

Patient's question:

I had a LEEP procedure on February 27th, and then some yellow discharge for about a week. Now there's some bleeding again, similar to the amount of my menstrual flow. My period started on February 18th, and around March 8th, there was bleeding for about two or three days, but it was very light. Now it's the same as my period. I don't know if it's my period or something else? My menstrual cycle is usually about 28 days. Some people say that the LEEP procedure can affect future fertility.

Doctor's answer:

In your case, there's no need to worry too much about desquamation and peeling. In general, after a Leep procedure, due to the sterilizing solutions used on the cervix and the excretion of substances from the cervical wound, the discharge of yellow fluid for about a week is normal. Around two weeks post-surgery, you may experience desquamation and peeling again, similar to menstrual bleeding. This is the shedding of the cervix's crust along with some peeling. During this time, avoid spicy foods and consume high-protein foods to aid in healing. Do not engage in sexual activity for two months post-surgery. Pay attention to hygiene in the perineal area.
I'm not sure what type of Leep procedure you had or how deep it was. If it was deep, it may cause changes in the elasticity of the cervix, which could potentially affect a natural childbirth. It will not affect your ovaries.
