Features: The ECG Laboratory of Zhongshan Hospital, affiliated with Fudan University, compiled and published professional books such as Teaching Atlas of ECG for Medical Students and Clinical ECG Slides in the 1970s and 1980s. This book is a continuation and development of those works. In ECG teaching, systematic theoretical training and intuitive atlas interpretation are two complementary and equally important methods that should not be neglected or underestimated. This is the understanding and teaching of many predecessors in our department and the requirement of practical work, which is one of the backgrounds for writing this book. In the past two decades, basic ECG theory has made great breakthroughs with the development of cardiac electrophysiology. At the same time, rapidly advancing computer technology has also been applied to ECG. These technologies allow us to observe, record, and analyze cardiac activity under many temporal and spatial conditions that were previously unattainable, discover new ECG phenomena, explore their clinical significance, and explain previously unexplained clinical phenomena. This is the second background for writing this book. Therefore, readers will find that a large number of the atlas images in this book come from computer ECG machines equipped with multi-lead synchronous recording and programmable printing technologies. Compared to two decades ago, the popularity of ECG in China has undergone significant changes, with a large number of professionals engaged in clinical ECG work. The demand for continuous education or reeducation has increased, and they urgently need a set of practical atlas images that can provide "bedside" references for daily diagnosis. Cultivating medical students with undergraduate or higher academic qualifications has always been one of the important tasks of our department. To adapt to the continuously improving national standards for medical student education, we felt it necessary to start with teaching materials, not only to improve the shortcomings of past teaching methods and materials but also to introduce and showcase the latest developments in the discipline. This is the second background and also the most direct purpose of writing this book. During the writing process, we tried to maintain a proper balance between text and atlas images, ensuring that the diagnostic principles are fully explained in writing while avoiding lengthy descriptions, and ensuring that the atlas images are representative without repetition. In terms of content selection, we have included modern pacemakers and exercise tests, which are less likely to be covered in undergraduate teaching, as well as some more complex arrhythmias. However, most of the content still revolves around the ECG portion of undergraduate Diagnosis and Internal Medicine courses. The purpose of doing this is to hope that this book can become a popular ECG teaching material for medical students, while also providing quick review and reference materials for middle and low-year cardiovascular specialists and ECG technicians.
