How to rule out ectopic pregnancy after pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I found out a few days ago that I'm pregnant, but how can I rule out ectopic pregnancy after becoming pregnant?

Doctor's answer:

Ectopic pregnancy mainly refers to a condition where sperm and egg combine to form an embryo but do not implant in the uterus, making it an early pregnancy. It is also known as an abnormal pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is relatively dangerous for pregnant women and may lead to rupture. In fact, there is no 100% method to diagnose ectopic pregnancy. For sexually active women of reproductive age, if they experience menopause and have positive urine tests for 6-10 days, along with symptoms such as abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding, and no embryo is found in the uterine cavity during vaginal ultrasound, ectopic pregnancy can be mostly diagnosed. For most pregnant women, an ultrasound can detect the presence of a pregnancy in the uterine cavity. Generally, by 60 days of pregnancy, if a pregnancy is detected in the uterine cavity along with a fetal heartbeat and fetal movement, ectopic pregnancy can be ruled out.
