What tests can be done for ovarian cysts?

Patient's question:

How is an ovarian cyst treated, ovarian cyst

Doctor's answer:

Not all ovarian cysts are malignant. Sometimes, a procedure called laparoscopy can be used to drain the cyst, but the usual treatment method is to remove the cyst. When this treatment is performed, it typically does not affect the ovary. However, occasionally, to ensure the entire cyst is removed, the entire ovary—even the fallopian tubes—may need to be removed. Since you have two ovaries, removing one still allows you to become pregnant. If you already have children or have gone through menopause, a gynecologist may recommend removing both ovaries and the uterus.
