Is ectopic pregnancy also associated with morning sickness?

Patient's question:

I haven't had my period for over a month, so I bought a pregnancy test and it came back with two lines. Recently, I've been feeling particularly nauseous and have a bit of a stomachache. I'm also very worried about an ectopic pregnancy. Could it also cause morning sickness?

Doctor's answer:

Ectopic pregnancy is usually caused by inflammation in the fallopian tube lumen or surrounding areas, which leads to obstruction of the lumen and hinders the normal movement of the fertilized egg. Before miscarriage or rupture, there are often no obvious symptoms, but there may also be symptoms such as missed periods, abdominal pain, and minimal vaginal bleeding. After rupture, it is characterized by acute, severe abdominal pain, repeated vaginal bleeding, and even shock. The main symptoms include lower abdominal pain, a sense of urgency, sometimes severe pain, and profuse sweating. Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and frequent urination.
