Features: Focusing on the hot, difficult, and controversial issues in economic and financial work since 2003, after multiple rounds of research, a total of 46 research topics were finally determined in six areas: monetary policy and macro-control, financial reform and development, financial stability and risk prevention, financial services and central bank internal management, international finance and foreign exchange management, and regional economy and finance. This marks the first time since 1998 that the People's Bank of China has assigned key research topics across its entire system. These topics largely reflect the latest trends in financial theory and practice. Each research team received full support from their respective unit leaders. Based on extensive and meticulous research, the team members diligently completed their assigned key research tasks. Some of the findings have already been applied in practice and achieved significant results. The leadership of the People's Bank of China attaches great importance to these key research topics and is highly concerned about the research outcomes. A "Research Outcome Evaluation Leadership Group" was established, and the "Evaluation Measures for Key Research Topics of the People's Bank of China" were improved and formulated. On the basis of openness, fairness, and impartiality, first, second, and third prizes were awarded anonymously. To better utilize and widely disseminate the outstanding achievements, 20 winning topics were selected and published as "Winning Reports of Key Financial Research Topics of the People's Bank of China (2004)" for public distribution to readers.
