Book Description:
This book was commissioned by the Henan Province Higher Education Self-Study Examination Committee. It serves as a self-study examination textbook and can also be used as a teaching material for modern Chinese literature courses in regular universities, colleges, and adult higher education institutions. During the compilation, we adhered to the provisions of the "Self-Study Examination Syllabus for Selected Works of Modern Chinese Literature" and, based on the current research status of the discipline, selected representative works of influential writers with different ideological tendencies and literary styles in the history of modern Chinese literature, following the principle of facilitating self-study and enabling self-learning without a teacher.
All selected works are accompanied by concise and brief annotations. These annotations include biographical introductions to the authors, summaries of the ideological content of the works, descriptions of the characters, and highlights of artistic features. For the selected middle-length novels, multi-act plays, and long narrative poems, due to the limitation of the book’s word count, some are excerpted, while others are summarized in outline form. Additionally, one to four thought-provoking questions are provided after each annotation to help readers understand the original texts and grasp key points.
