Features: Medical psychology is a branch of medical science that studies the patterns of psychological factors influencing human health and disease. The bio-psycho-social model of medicine treats individuals as social beings. A person's peripheral environment (such as social and natural environments) has a significant impact on their health and disease. For example, various events in social and natural environments can reflect on the body through psychological activities, causing physiological or even pathological changes. Conversely, physical conditions and psychological events in the body can also lead to physiological, psychological, or even psychopathological changes. The influence of biological, psychological, and social factors on individual health is closely related to the functioning of the mind and body. Medical psychology aims to explore and elucidate the impact of human psychological activities on health, disease, and their mutual transformation. Since the Ministry of Health mandated Medical Psychology as a compulsory textbook for medical schools in 1987, over a dozen textbooks on this subject have been published domestically. As a planned textbook by the Ministry of Education, the authors have taken note that it is intended for use as a five-year foundational medical textbook for medical students. The content is designed to be concise and focused, emphasizing the practical medical psychology knowledge, theories, and skills that will lay a solid foundation for future clinical medicine, while also introducing updated knowledge. Following the principles of "keeping pace with the times" and prioritizing practicality, the authors have structured the book into chapters such as General Medical Psychology, Health Medical Psychology, Pathological Medical Psychology, Medical Psychology for Special Populations, Diagnostic Medical Psychology, Pharmacological Medical Psychology, Nursing Medical Psychology, Psychotherapy and Psychological Counseling, Rehabilitation Medical Psychology, and Online Medical Psychology, among others.
