Dai Li was determined to marry Butterfly, but unexpectedly died in a plane crash after the war of resistance ended. Butterfly reunited with Pan Shengyou again and later moved her family to Hong Kong. A few years later, Pan Shengyou passed away, and Butterfly moved to Canada. In 1989, Butterfly passed away peacefully in Vancouver, Canada. Her last words were: "Butterfly is leaving."
