Features: Although there are many methods for treating diseases, it is difficult to find effective and reliable prescriptions. Zhang Changsha once said, "Gather prescriptions from various sources," and this is indeed well-founded. The skills of renowned physicians in saving lives are invaluable, and a single prescription or method is more precious than a thousand gold pieces—it is not to be taken lightly. It contains the crystallized efforts of many physicians and the result of rigorous refinement. The contemporary scholars Wu Dazhen, Qiao Mo, and others, with a compassionate heart for healing, have dedicated over twenty years to diligently seeking knowledge, collecting effective treatment methods and prescriptions from modern renowned physicians, refining and exploring them, innovating and setting new standards, and compiling this book to share their outstanding achievements with the world. Upon reading it, I was delighted to say: "This is a new work in the medical field." Therefore, I took up my pen to write this preface to inform the readers. Liu Duzhou, a contemporary famous traditional Chinese medicine physician, has various miraculous techniques for treating and saving lives. This book collects the pediatric treatment techniques of over 100 modern famous physicians, such as Mr. Sun Jinchen, who is skilled in using Xianxin Decoction to treat pediatric difficult diseases; and Liu Bichen's three key points for treating pediatric pneumonia, which are all extraordinary techniques. Excerpt: Treat pediatric high fever with Tui're Ling Tuo'er Ling is used to treat pediatric high fever, which is clinically divided into two categories: exogenous and endogenous. Exogenous high fever is more common due to wind-heat. Professor Li Yanling believes that treating pediatric high fever should be timely and decisive, stopping treatment as soon as the condition improves, and has specially designed Tui're Ling for the treatment of exogenous wind-heat and wind-cold transforming into fire-induced high fever, with significant effects. Tui're Ling consists of 3 grams of rhino horn (replaced by large doses of water buffalo horn), 6 grams each of Huanglian, Zhizi, and Huashi. When using it, grind the above herbs into a fine powder and sift them through a fine sieve. In this prescription, rhino horn (water buffalo horn) is salty and cold, entering the heart, liver, and stomach meridians, calming the mind, cooling blood, stopping bleeding, and clearing heat and detoxifying. Experimental research shows that intravenous injection of this product can restore normal body temperature in rabbits with fever caused by Escherichia coli. Huanglian is bitter and cold, entering the heart, liver, stomach, and large intestine meridians, clearing heat, drying dampness, clearing heat and detoxifying; Zhizi is bitter and cold, entering the heart, liver, lung, and stomach meridians, clearing heat, calming the mind, cooling blood, and detoxifying; Huashi is sweet and bland, cold in nature, entering the stomach and bladder meridians, clearing summer heat. The combination of these four herbs achieves the effect of clearing heat, detoxifying, cooling blood, and detoxifying. Dosage: Under 6 months, 0.15–0.3 grams each time, 3 times a day; 6 months–1 year, 0.3–0.5 grams each time, 3 times a day; 1–3 years, 0.5–0.9 grams each time, 3 times a day; 3–6 years, 0.6–1.2 grams each time, 3 times a day; 6–12 years, 1.5 grams each time, 3 times a day. Precautions: Since children often have insufficient spleen function, this prescription should be stopped as soon as the condition improves, and then use tonifying spleen and digesting food herbs to regulate the body, thereby promoting the body's defense mechanisms and enhancing disease resistance. [Case Example] Zhang, male, 3 years old, came to our hospital for treatment on December 30, 1965, due to a 5-day fever. For the past 5 days, he has had fever, nausea, and vomiting (not projectile), with white sticky vomit, three bowel movements a day, and loose stools. He had been treated in another hospital and received various oral and intramuscular medications without improvement, so he came to our clinic for treatment. Physical examination: Body temperature 39.6°C, conscious, normal development, moderate nutrition, red tongue with white greasy coating, red pharynx, slightly swollen tonsils without secretions, no abnormalities in the heart and lungs. Fingerprint color purple, indicating external pathogens entering the interior and transforming into heat. Treatment: Clear heat, clear fire, cool blood. Tui're Ling 0.9 grams, 3 times a day. On December 31, follow-up examination showed that fever had subsided after taking the medicine, with a body temperature of 36.5°C, pale red tongue with thin white coating, faint fingerprint, and reduced pharyngeal congestion compared to the previous day. Tonsils had shrunk, but he was listless and had poor appetite, due to heat injuring the body. Therefore, tonifying spleen and digesting food herbs were prescribed for regulation. After follow-up, he recovered after taking the medicine.
