Illustrated Book of the Path to Happiness

Author: (British) Bertrand Russell
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-08-01
Features: Einstein once said, "Reading Russell's works has been one of the happiest times in my life." Animals are happy and content as long as they are not sick and have enough food. People should be the same; yet reality is not like that, at least not most of the time. If you are unlucky, you may admit that you are not an exception in this regard. If you are happy, ask yourself how many of your friends are happy. Although the forms of misfortune are varied, it is not difficult to find that it is everywhere. This book is not written for experts, nor for those who treat real-life problems as mere idle talk. In the following chapters, you will not find profound philosophical principles or obscure scholarly reflections. My purpose is merely to collect some thoughts here through insights into what I hope are ordinary things. The little tricks I advocate and provide to readers are derived from my experiences and observations, and they have increased my happiness whenever I follow them. For this reason, I dare hope that the many men and women who suffer misfortune but do not enjoy happiness can diagnose their symptoms and find ways to escape them. I believe that through the efforts made in this book, many unhappy people will become happy and sweet.
