However, we believe that in the coming decades, CAD cannot completely replace manual research and design, especially not the training of hand-brain interaction during the learning process. Understanding the unique characteristics of pen and ink painting and its special requirements in shaping basic skills is the key to mastering the techniques of pen and ink drawing. Through extensive practice and experience, the eye, hand, and tools can coordinate with each other under the guidance of the brain, becoming sensitive and precise. Therefore, during the revision of the second edition of this book, significant adjustments were made. In Chapter 7, the section on works of architectural pen and ink drawing, classical buildings that originally occupied a large portion of the text were removed. Instead, modern buildings, bird's-eye views of building complexes, urban landscapes, and interior environments were added, along with a breakdown of the painting process to help readers master the techniques of pen and ink painting in the shortest time possible. The newly added illustrations also explore various expressive techniques, such as combining pens and pencils to enrich the layers of the artwork, and combining pens with ink to better reflect the charm of Eastern culture.
