Features: Liu Mingjiu, born in 1934, graduated from the Department of Western Languages at Peking University. He is a researcher and professor at the Institute of Foreign Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, honorary president of the China French Literature Society, and a member of the Chinese Writers' Association. His academic monographs include: History of French Literature, Getting Closer to Hugo, and three others. His critical essay collections include: The Collection of Historical Criticism, The Collection of Stone-Picking, Essays on 20th Century French Literature, and ten others. His prose collections include: Impressions of Famous Parisians, Notes on Paris, and four others. His translations and selections include: Selected Literary Essays of Hugo, Sartre Studies, Selected Masterpieces of French Psychological Fiction, and more than 20 others. His edited projects include: Essays on Western Literary Trends (7 volumes), Series of 20th Century French Literature (70 volumes), Collected Works of Hugo (20 volumes), and Collected Works of Camus (4 volumes), totaling 12 projects. In 2000, he was officially selected as the subject of a doctoral dissertation at the University of Paris in France.
