Patient's question:
I got married last year, and recently I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain. It's especially bad during my period, and I'm very worried it might affect my fertility. Also, I'm extremely sensitive to cold and cold drafts. What are the conservative treatments for cervical polyps?Doctor's answer:
The treatment methods for cervical polyps can be divided into two types. One type of cervical polyp is formed by local fibrosis of the cervical canal mucosa, with a thin and long stalk, making it easy to remove completely. The other type of cervical polyp recurs in the cervical vaginal area, although it is superficial, its base is relatively wide, making it difficult to remove completely during treatment and potentially leading to regrowth. Additionally, since cervical polyps are a manifestation of chronic cervical inflammation, even after the polyp is removed, the chronic inflammation of the cervix is not eliminated, and the pathogenic bacteria remain hidden within the cervical tissue. In other words, the cause of sepsis still exists. Therefore, after removing a cervical polyp, treatment for the chronic inflammation of the cervix should also be administered to prevent the recurrence of cervical polyps.
