Features: Still life in watercolor is a mandatory subject for art college entrance exams in most art institutions in China, making it a must-learn content for aspiring artists. However, beginners often struggle with how to paint watercolor still life. In response to this situation, we conducted extensive teaching research and found that many beginners face common issues—such as not mastering the basic steps of painting, especially sketching and composition. This often leads them to take detours, resulting in a loss of confidence and even some giving up their initial passion for art. To boost the confidence of watercolor beginners and help them quickly grasp the correct painting techniques, we have developed a fast-paced learning program for watercolor still life: first, we help beginners determine the contour lines of the objects they are copying, then guide them in sketching and composing the layout, followed by copying exercises based on this foundation. This training model fully engages beginners' interest and strengthens their confidence in painting. After a short period of training, students' watercolor painting skills will show noticeable improvement. For beginners, mastering a fast-paced learning method to boost confidence is more important than anything else. This book provides a detailed breakdown of the learning steps for watercolor still life, especially by offering suitable paper for beginners to practice copying, without filling it with unnecessary theoretical jargon. We believe this book will bring practical help to students.
