Does the four-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound require fasting?

Patient's question:

I am planning to do a 4D color Doppler ultrasound tomorrow. It's my first time, and I don't really understand the process. Do I need to fast before a 4D color Doppler ultrasound?

Doctor's answer:

The advantages of 4D color Doppler over conventional color Doppler lie in its ability to provide a clearer view of the specific details of tissues and organs. The requirements for fasting are the same as those for conventional color Doppler. When performing a liver and gallbladder color Doppler examination, fasting is necessary to avoid the excretion of bile after a meal, which may obscure the imaging results. For other examinations, no special requirements are needed. However, if an MRI of the uterine is performed, except for pregnant women in the third month and beyond, all others need to have a full bladder.
