Features: To develop general higher education in traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacy, strengthen the construction of specialized teaching materials, and improve the quality of specialized talent training, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine organized and published 16 specialized teaching materials for the traditional Chinese medicine major. This set of teaching materials is mainly designed to train clinical talents of traditional Chinese medicine for grassroots healthcare institutions such as counties, towns, and factories. It includes 16 main specialized teaching materials for the traditional Chinese medicine major, such as Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Herbal Medicine, Formulas, Normal Human Anatomy, Physiology, Basic Western Medicine Clinical Science, Basic Western Medicine Diagnostics, Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Pediatrics of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Surgery of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Orthopedics of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Emergency Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Tuina, Internal Medicine of Western Medicine, and Introduction to Western Medicine Surgery. During the writing process, efforts were made to reflect the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine and the features of specialization. It adheres to the unity of scientificity and adaptability, focusing on absorbing new developments in traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacy and new diagnostic technologies suitable for rural and grassroots needs, while ensuring the depth and breadth of the content meet the requirements of the specialized level. Writing specialized teaching materials for the traditional Chinese medicine major is an exploratory work with limited reference experience. To make this set of teaching materials suitable for general higher education in traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacy, long-term efforts are required. Through extensive practice and continuous summarization of experiences, improvements can be made step by step to gradually perfect the materials. The specific revision content is as follows:
Introduction Part: Revise the overview of the formation and development of the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine into two parts, clarify the content of the Four Great Classics, highlight that the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon is the first among the Four Great Classics, and emphasize the stage characteristics of the development of traditional Chinese medicine theory. Remove the section on the dialectical view of materialism in the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine. Clarify the concepts of the holistic view and syndrome differentiation and treatment. Add content on the holistic view of humans and the social environment and the concept of human adaptability to the environment.
Yin-Yang and Five Elements Part: Clarify the characteristics of the concept of Yin and Yang; clarify the concept of Yin-Yang opposition; clarify the concept of the Five Elements and the method of classifying the attributes of things according to the Five Elements.
Zang-Xiang Part: Clarify the theory of Zang and the concept of the heart storing the mind; maintain consistency in the content related to "the mind" in each chapter.
Diagnostics Part: Clarify the concept of constipation.
Syndrome Differentiation Part: Remove the content on the treatment methods for exterior syndrome and interior syndrome.
Preventive and Therapeutic Principles Part: Clarify the concept of therapeutic principles.
