What should I do if my period is abnormal after a cesarean section?

Patient's question:

My wife says it's okay to call it full-figured, but if you don't like it, you could say she's a bit overweight. When she was pregnant, she thought that because she was a bit, it might be difficult to give birth naturally, so she ended up having a cesarean section. But ever since the cesarean, her menstrual cycle has never been quite normal. What should she do?

Doctor's answer:

After a cesarean section, if abnormal menstruation reoccurs, it is first considered to be a manifestation of menstrual irregularity. If it happens again within one year of the cesarean section, most women return to normal, and generally no treatment is needed. It may be related to hormonal levels during this stage, as well as the effects of breastfeeding. However, if abnormal menstruation persists even after weaning, it can be diagnosed as a manifestation of menstrual irregularity, and further diagnostic tests such as hormone level analysis (6 tests) and ultrasound examination should be conducted to identify the cause. Hormonal regulation treatment can then be applied.
