This is the very purpose behind writing this "Comprehensive History of Chinese Rhetoric." Here, we make preliminary explorations on some fundamental theories of the history of rhetoric, the characteristics and patterns of Chinese rhetorical history, and related issues. This book is divided into two volumes. Volume One covers the rhetoric theories of the Ming Dynasty, including four chapters: Rhetoric of Articles in the Ming Dynasty, Rhetoric of Poetry in the Ming Dynasty (with a supplement on Ci), Rhetoric of Drama in the Ming Dynasty, and Rhetoric of Fiction in the Ming Dynasty. Volume Two covers the rhetoric theories of the Qing Dynasty, including four chapters: Rhetoric of Articles in the Qing Dynasty, Rhetoric of Poetry and Ci in the Qing Dynasty, Rhetoric of Fiction in the Qing Dynasty, and Rhetoric of Drama in the Qing Dynasty.
