How should bacterial vaginosis be treated better?

Patient's question:

Bacterial Vaginosis. How to treat mild bacterial vaginosis?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, bacterial vaginosis is caused by an imbalance in the normal flora. Approximately 10% to 50% of patients are asymptomatic. Symptomatic patients often report grayish-white vaginal discharge with a fishy odor, vaginal burning sensation, and itching.
1. Metronidazole can be used. If the dose is high or to prevent gastrointestinal reactions, vitamin B6 can be added.
2. Miconazole.
During treatment, maintain external genital hygiene and dryness, avoid scratching, refrain from spicy and irritating foods, change underwear frequently, or use warm water for cleansing. Do not mix with other clothes to prevent cross-infection.
Bacterial vaginosis is a serious condition, and patients are advised to seek timely symptomatic treatment.
