Features: The Green Camp soldiers achieved comprehensive control over Yunnan, from urban centers to rural areas, from inland regions to borderlands, and from flatlands to mountainous areas through the strategy of defending fortified cities and distributing defense responsibilities among flood control embankments. This enabled the Qing Dynasty to establish a more thorough and in-depth rule over Yunnan than in any previous historical period, significantly contributing to the stability of China's southwestern frontier and the development of the multi-ethnic unified nation. The Green Camp soldiers and their families were fully integrated into the economic life of Yunnan during the Qing Dynasty, directly or indirectly promoting the development of agriculture, mining, and commerce in Yunnan. Since the distribution focus of the Qing Dynasty's Green Camp soldiers and flood control embankments gradually shifted to the borderlands and mountainous areas after the reigns of Yongzheng and Qianlong, the Green Camp soldiers played an extremely important role in the development and construction of Yunnan's borderlands and mountainous regions. This book studies the history of the military system in Qing Dynasty Yunnan, examining the development, changes, and functions of the Green Camp soldiers and flood control embankment system. It elaborates on the impact of the evolution of the Green Camp military system on the economic and social development of Yunnan, summarizing historical lessons and experiences. This research contributes to expanding and deepening the study of Qing history and Chinese frontier history, as well as to exploring the local and ethnic history of Qing Dynasty Yunnan.
