This series is specially selected from the works of award-winning authors of the 6th National Outstanding Children's Literature Award, which was recently announced in 2004. The National Outstanding Children's Literature Award, held every three years by the Chinese Writers' Association, is awarded by experts composed of critics, writers, and senior editors from major publishing houses after several rounds of screening from hundreds of children's literature works recommended from various regions. We have every reason to believe in its authority and fairness. The words from these authors, who have been scrutinized by both authorities and discerning readers, are far more reliable and credible than the works of authors who have gained fame through deliberate hype.
From the fourteen award-winning authors, we have selected over a hundred excellent pieces to compile into two novels and one fairy tale. Some of these authors are familiar to our readers, such as Jin Bo, Cao Wenxuan, Chang Xinggang, Shen Shixi, Bai Bing, Bing Bo, and Jin Zenghao. Others are young, talented writers, including Liu Dong, Wang Lichun, Ssan, Wang Yimei, Xiong Lei, and Zhao Hairong. They form a bright and vibrant landscape in contemporary Chinese children's literature creation.
Starting with the works of the highest-level children's literature award-winning authors in China, this selection also reflects our attitude: serious writing, beautiful imagery, unambiguous aesthetic principles, and a steadfast commitment to purity. We believe that this book brings readers works that can be called classics of children's literature, offering both the joy of reading and assistance in writing.
