Features: The author is committed to thinking and exploring the correct path for the discipline construction of the study of the history and geography of China's frontier regions. His research field has also expanded from ethnic history to the history of China's frontier territories. Some of the papers in this collection are selected from five previously published collections, while two papers on the history of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom published in the early 1980s are added. Additionally, ten papers not included in the aforementioned five collections and published after 2003 are also included.
Secondly, as a collection, the author should reflect more on the trajectory of his research progress. Therefore, the arrangement is generally divided into seven categories based on the content of the research the author has conducted, namely: the study of the history of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, ethnic history of the Sui, Tang, and Qing dynasties, local history of Xinjiang, the study of the Northeast frontier and Central Asia, contemporary research on China's frontier regions, comprehensive research on China's frontier regions, and miscellaneous notes on frontier exploration. A total of 34 papers are included. It should be noted that due to the of the content, only some published research reports on contemporary China's frontier regions are selected.
Thirdly, to preserve the original form of the papers when they were written, no changes are made when included in this collection, and the original publication date and source are noted at the end of each paper.
