Does a previous Cesarean section require another Cesarean section if you become pregnant again?

Patient's question:

Now the country has opened up to having two children, so we are also planning to have another child. I had a cesarean section for my daughter in 2008, and now I am 31 weeks pregnant and it seems like I will be giving birth soon. In the past, because of the first child, I had a cesarean section. I don't know if this second child will need a cesarean section as well?

Doctor's answer:

The first pregnancy was delivered via cesarean section. Generally, after another pregnancy, most women need to undergo another cesarean section because this condition is classified as a scarred uterus. A subsequent pregnancy increases the risk of uterine rupture. To prevent the recurrence of uterine rupture, most doctors recommend opting for a cesarean section. It is advised to regularly visit the hospital for prenatal check-ups and pay close attention to any changes in fetal movement during the later stages of pregnancy.
