Features: In the process of information system development, the system development cycle framework is at the center. Each chapter begins with an SDC diagram, showing how each step of the SDC builds upon the previous steps. Chapter 2, an introduction to object-oriented programming, focuses on introducing the main terminology and related examples of object-oriented programming. As students gradually read this book, this chapter serves as the primary reference. Two case studies are used throughout the book.
Chapter 1: Object-Oriented System Development Environment: One aspect of object-oriented system analysis and design is that these steps are repeated in an iterative and incremental manner throughout the development process. The spiral shown in Figure 1-1 between analysis, design, implementation, and operation implies this iterative and incremental development. The focus of this book is:
● Advocating problem-solving from a business perspective rather than a technical one.
● Highlighting the roles, responsibilities, and philosophy of system analysts and system project managers more than programmers and business managers.
● Emphasizing the methods and principles of system development, rather than being limited to specific tools or techniques related to a particular tool.
The book's organizational structure is primarily as follows: First, it introduces the basic foundational knowledge, then introduces a system development cycle, with content that deepens logically layer by layer. This cycle is designed to be high-level and consists of four steps: planning, analysis, design, and implementation. Therefore, the book is divided into the following five parts.
Part "Object-Oriented System Development Environment" discusses the general principles of system development and provides a preview of the other parts of the book.
The second part, "Project Management and Planning," covers the evaluation of project feasibility and the establishment of baseline projects.
The third part, "System Analysis," covers the determination of system requirements, process modeling, conceptual modeling, and the determination of the best design.
The fourth part, "System Design," covers the methods of designing human-machine interfaces and databases.
The fifth part, "System Implementation and Operation," covers system implementation, operation, closure, and system maintenance.
