Is morning sickness nausea a serious illness?

Patient's question:

Pregnancy-induced nausea and vomiting, only wanting to eat sour and spicy food. I've always had this problem, and medication hasn't helped either. These past few days, I've been experiencing these symptoms, but they haven't improved at all.

Doctor's answer:

Nausea is a discomfort in the stomach that can lead to vomiting with a sense of guilt, while vomiting is a pathological physiological reflex that forces the contents of the stomach to be expelled through the mouth due to strong contractions of the stomach. The two can occur together or independently. There are several causes of nausea and vomiting, such as:
(1) Digestive system infectious diseases: food poisoning, acute gastroenteritis, viral hepatitis;
(2) Visceral pain diseases: acute intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, peritonitis;
(3) Central nervous system diseases: encephalitis, meningitis, hypertensive encephalopathy. Try Domperidone tablets.
