Patient's question:
My friend mentioned in a chat yesterday that he was at the hospital. The doctor said he had a pubic symphysis diastasis. Because both of us work in different places, I went to stay with him for a week. After discharge, the doctor advised him to rest and recover at home before returning to work. He didn't prescribe much medication. I just wanted to ask if the doctor thinks medication is necessary in this case?Doctor's answer:
Under normal circumstances, the pubis is divided into two bones, the left and right, which are joined together by cartilage in the middle, known as the symphysis pubis. It can perform movements of a small amplitude. However, if due to early pregnancy, labor, or trauma, the two joined pubic bones undergo excessive movement, it can damage the cartilage, causing the two sides of the pubis to fuse, thereby leading to a recurrence of symphysis pubis diastasis. The treatment principles follow those of fracture treatment.
