Publish Date: 2005-07-01
Features: With the continuous deepening of China's reform and opening-up and the significant improvement of China's international status, the importance of Chinese language has become increasingly prominent globally, bringing rare development opportunities to China's field of Chinese language teaching to foreigners. As an independent discipline, Chinese language teaching to foreigners has seen increasingly clear research directions and content, enriched disciplinary connotations, expanded teaching and research teams, and yielded more substantial research outcomes, achieving significant progress. As a newly emerging and rapidly developing discipline, Chinese language teaching to foreigners urgently needs a platform to showcase itself. However, there are very few specialized academic journals dedicated to this field, which cannot meet the demands of disciplinary development and the need for researchers and educators to publish their research findings and engage in academic exchanges.
Shanghai Normal University has long been engaged in research and teaching of Chinese language teaching to foreigners, possessing strong academic strength and broad academic influence. At the dawn of the 21st century, establishing such a journal would not only further enhance the global influence of Chinese language and promote the development of Chinese language teaching to foreigners but also elevate the disciplinary status of Chinese language teaching to foreigners and improve the construction of its theoretical framework.
"Journal of Chinese Language Teaching" is founded with the mission of "promoting Chinese language teaching and research both domestically and internationally, promptly reflecting the latest achievements and academic dynamics in the field of Chinese language teaching and research, comprehensively enhancing the academic level of teaching and research teams in Chinese language teaching to foreigners, and providing a platform for academic discussions, research, and theoretical innovation." It aims to make positive and greater contributions to the development of Chinese language teaching to foreigners in China in terms of disciplinary construction, academic research, and teaching of Chinese language and culture.
