Does a female ovarian cyst affect fertility?

Patient's question:

During the recent company health check-up, the ultrasound revealed a cyst in my right ovary. Now I don't know what to do? Will it affect fertility? Hello, is there any way to resolve this??

Doctor's answer:

If it is confirmed to be a unilateral ovarian cyst, such as a follicular cyst or a corpus luteum cyst, it generally disappears on its own within two months. Persistent, smooth, and gradually growing cysts, however, raise suspicion of a possible benign ovarian tumor, and surgical removal should be considered. This is because even benign tumors can transform into malignant ones, and complications such as pedicle inversion of the mass may also occur. Such unilateral ovarian inflammation generally does not affect the ability to conceive or become pregnant.
