Sixteenth and Seventeenth Century History of Science, Technology, and Philosophy (Volume 1 and 2)

Author: (English) Yawolfo Zhou Changzhong Miao Yishun Mao Rongyun
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1997-05-01
Features: This book is primarily intended to meet the needs of serious students. Therefore, it is entirely written based on historical materials. The arrangement of inserting selected reference bibliographies within the main text may be much more helpful than the usual formal bibliographies, which make it as difficult as searching for a needle in a haystack to find evidence for a specific viewpoint. In the final volume, a formal reference bibliography for the entire modern period will be included. This book attempts to provide a fairly complete account of the achievements in the entire field of "natural" knowledge during the 16th and 17th centuries. All sciences, including those that have not yet been incorporated into the history of science, have been given due attention, and the important work done by each science during these first two centuries of the modern era is described in detail. The major branches of technology also occupy a considerable amount of space. Additionally, this volume provides a fairly comprehensive discussion of the philosophy of this period to help understand the general intellectual tendencies of the scientists of the time.
