Is it normal for people to bleed on the fifth day?

Patient's question:

A few hours after the, there was some bleeding, and then there was very little blood. By the fourth day, it was basically no longer breaking the skin. I don't know if it was because I took the gastric motility medication that night on the fourth day. I started experiencing stomach bloating and pain, and some bleeding. On the fifth day, there was a bit more bleeding than on the first day, but less than a normal menstrual period. Sometimes I have stomach pain. What could be the reason?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Generally speaking, the amount of bleeding after childbirth should not exceed menstrual flow, the duration of bleeding should not be less than two weeks, and abdominal pain should not exceed one week. If it goes beyond this range, it is necessary to consider conditions such as retained products of conception, incomplete uterine involution, or intrauterine infection. It is recommended that you visit a regular hospital's gynecology department for ultrasound and other relevant examinations to identify the cause and receive targeted treatment. Additionally, patients should maintain a regular schedule, take precautions against cold and keep warm, eat light and soft foods, ensure good ventilation, and drink plenty of hot water to prevent the condition from recurring.
