How should candidiasis be treated?

Patient's question:

What medication should be used for candidal vulvovaginitis? This condition has not improved, what should I do?

Doctor's answer:

Your condition can be treated by using a 2% to 4% baking soda solution to rinse the vagina once or twice daily, with a 2-week course being one treatment. After rinsing, dry the external genital area and keep it dry at all times. You can also apply clotrimazole cream or miconazole cream externally to treat vulvitis caused by fungal infections and reduce symptoms of itching and pain in the vulva. Apply the cream several times a day and use it for 2 weeks. Efuqing cream is based on econazole and contains a very small amount of topical steroid, which has good effects in reducing swelling and relieving pain.
